The Dice Chess tournament, part of the largest chess festival in Northern Europe, has concluded
On August 7, a Dice Chess tournament took place at the “Ķīpsala” Exhibition Centre. The tournament featured 42 players of various ages, ranging from the youngest participants to seniors. As an international competition, the tournament attracted representatives from four countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, and the USA. The Dice Chess tournament was organized by the Dice Chess public organization in collaboration with the organizers of the “RTU Open 2024” chess festival, which is the largest annual festival in Northern Europe.
The competition was intense, with excitement lasting until the very end of the tournament. The winner was only determined after the final round. Anatolijs Alipovs, one of the most experienced Dice Chess players, emerged victorious with a remarkable 11 out of 12 possible points. This is a record number of points for any tournament winner. The fate of the 2nd and 3rd places was decided by tiebreak scores; Dmitrijs Pogrebnojs took second place (9 points), and Kristaps Tenis secured third place (9 points).
