Dice Chess at Mikhail Tal’s School

26.08.2025

On August 19, the public benefit organization “Dice Chess Federation” held a Dice Chess masterclass at the “Chesston” chess camp, hosted at Riga Secondary School No. 22 — the very school where the 8th World Chess Champion Mikhail Tal once studied. For Latvians and chess enthusiasts around the world, the name of the “Magician from Riga” is associated with great achievements, so the venue was chosen for a reason.

A total of 19 children took part in the masterclass, enthusiastically joining the game. They were divided into teams to compete in a relay format, where each member had a special role.
The teams included a “timekeeper” (responsible for the clock), a “dice roller” (the one with the “lucky hand” to roll the dice), and a captain — an adult mentor who maintained team spirit and helped the children analyze and find the best moves. The rest of the team worked together as one unit, discussing and making the moves on the board.

The winners were the team “BMW M5”, while their creative rivals included “Laimīgie mētēji”, “Trijnieciņi”, and “Četrnieciņi”.
The winning team received a tray of sweets, and all participants were gifted with special Dice Chess dice pouches.

The masterclass brought plenty of positive emotions to both children and adults. The two hours flew by unnoticed, as the kids were fully engaged and inspired by the game of Dice Chess.

We would like to thank the chess school “Chesston” for their hospitality and support.
Stay tuned for more updates — many exciting events are still ahead!

MORE FUN TOGETHER! 😊
